Out of the 11 most common currencies used in the US today, 8 have a slave owner on them.
Outraged citizens call for a boycott on all denominations with a slave owner pictured on it. “We will only use the Penny, Dime and 5 dollar bill until these faces are erased,” said a spokesperson for the group.
Rosevelt and Lincoln are the only faces on US currency not to have been slave owners.
The US Treasury is working quickly to erase the history on our currency and replace it with faces that won’t cause micro aggression.
The new faces will better represent the current population in the US and will do away with the slave owners that have been immortalized.
These changes will go into effect as soon as the US Mint can start production.
