Airlines Announce Passengers Over 120 lbs Will Be Charged Excess Baggage

In a bid to further reform the aviation sector, airline companies announced yesterday that all passengers weighing over 120 lbs will be treated as excess baggage and charged for every extra pound they weigh. Airlines have realized that millions of dollars in excess baggage are lost with each flight. Thanks to this announcement, millions of air passengers have started dieting to stay below the designated number. We spoke to a one such frequent flyer, “A few years ago, my doctor gave me 5 years to live if I didn’t start eating healthfully. I ignored him, but after seeing that I will have to pay extra for flying because of my weight, I immediately replaced my mac and cheese and a pint of Bacardi with broccoli, lentils, and a pint of vegetable smoothie.”

We spoke to a leading aviation expert for his opinion, “Clearly, charging extra for premium seats, window seats, aisle seats, fast check-in, or meals wasn’t enough for these airlines. They want to make us more miserable just because we don’t have wings and can’t fly on our own.” There are also reports of airlines pushing for a dynamic weighing system. Just as ticket prices rise as the date of departure draws close, the total weight exempted from being charged as excess baggage would be reduced for youngsters. For example, a 10-year-old child would hopefully never weigh 120 lbs, but his exemption limit would be 20 lbs.
